*The 1984 program lists the previous champs at all of the state tournaments back to 1967. The 1980 HWT champ is listed as a Rendall from Austin E.P. El Paso Austin's heavyweight that year was Mike Priego, and they don't even have a Randall on their 1980 team. Until I can figure out the issue here, I'm going to leave the entry blank.

El Paso Austin's 1980 yearbook notes three wrestlers "all placed in the top four", but does not note their place: George Brown(98), Dan Stageburg(119), Mike Priego(HWT).

El Paso Coronado notes that Mike Mowles placed 2nd at state, but does not note thier weight class.

R.L. Turner's 1980 yearbook notes two state placers, but does not note their weight classes: Curtis Ramsey (3rd) and Tim Barker (6th).

Richardson's 1980 yearbook notes three additional state placers, but does not note their weight classes: Steve Potts(2nd), Tim McGinnis(6th), and Bob Stacey(6th).
